Dr. Kocra Lossina Assoua


He is a Political Scientist by training. He studied Political Sciences and Economics at the University of Siegen in Germany where he was awarded his PhD in Political Science in 2007.

Mr. Assoua worked from April-September 2007 at ICON- Institute in Cologne as Project Assistant and later as Research Assistant at the Department of Sociology of Development at the University of Bayreuth.

He was Assistant Professor of Development Policy and African Politics and a Principal Investigator at the Institute of African Studies of the University of Bayreuth from 2009 to 2013. From 2010 to 2011, he was the first Chairman of the African Good Governance Network (AGGN).

His research interests include development policy, international relations, governance issues in third world countries, local government and decentralization policy, political culture and political systems, electoral behavior in Africa, peace and conflict studies, and comparative political studies. Mr. Assoua has conducted many field research and surveys in Ghana and Ivory Coast, and other cross-national regions in West Africa. He  supervised several DAAD funded PhD research projects within BIGSAS.
