Midlands State University (MSU) is well poised to host the multidisciplinary international conference on Driving Socio-Economic Development through Value Addition and Sustainable Use of Resources which is in line with the provisions of part of MSU's mission to improve the performance of the economy through the promotion of managerial skills and the generation, dissemination and application of knowledge. Established in 1999, MSU has grown phenomenally in response to the demands for higher education in our communities. With a student population of over 20 000, the university has 7 faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Natural Resources Management and Agriculture, Science and Technology and Social Sciences. It boasts of a Graduate School of Business Leadership, which is accredited with the Association of African Business Schools (AABS), the only institution with such a status in Zimbabwe and in 2015 the Faculties of Medicine and Mining Sciences will be opened.
